We’re not currently hiring, but we LOVE to review resumes!
Astoria Birth Center and Family Medicine is a practice like no other. We are a hybrid team that takes a pragmatic, holistic approach to family care and birth. We are a low volume (5-10 births per month) but busy birth center and family practice with exceptionally good statistics. We have an awesome team and really like each other.
While we’re not hiring at the moment, almost all of our hires come from our pool of resumes sent by people who already know they want to be here, in Astoria, practicing rural healthcare in a setting like ours.
Our ideal team members love the rain and being outdoors, love midwifery, love building new things, problem solving, and meeting people wherever they are at and helping them cultivate their best life. We see people from all educational and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we love them all.
We are passionate about offering exceptional healthcare in a rural health setting and providing a much-needed option to our community that would otherwise not be available.
Applicants ideally have out-of-hospital birth experience (though not strictly required), love working with a high degree of autonomy (read: we do not micromanage) in a beautiful, waterfront location, and are comfortable with engaging with our local community on many levels. Astoria is tight-knit. We help each other, we refer to our local businesses, and we work side-by-side to keep our community awesome. Excellent hospital and government collaboration skills are a must, as we work closely with our local hospital, state legislators, insurances, and Medicaid providers to improve patient safety and experience.
We have been and continue to steadily expand.
This may be a great option for you if you are looking for a change in pace and location (we are deeply committed to making this practice not only sustainable but an exceptional environment for our midwives, and you can help determine what that looks like) or would like to transition from an in-hospital to an out-of-hospital environment.
New grads with experience in L&D, birth assisting, or in the LDEM model are welcome and Spanish language skills are a huge plus.
If this looks like a good fit for you please email your resume and cover letter to hello@astoriabirth center.com.
